So, I took a break from it and wrote another book, then a dozen short stories. Then I went back and started editing the first one again. Then I wrote a third novel. Then I went edited the second book...I could go on but I think you get it. I think for me distance away from my novels has helped. And the fact that I am always working on something. The more I write the more I inform...it is a fact that has been proven and I see it in my MS's. Oh and it wouldn't hurt to have a passion for what you're doing. That passion won't allow me to give up. I'm very glad you're not giving up. I read once that it takes many writers about 10 years of practice and submission before they get published, and it was that for me, too. Some writers get there sooner; maybe you'll be one of them! But you won't if you give up. So not giving up? It means you're closer. Also, I completely rewrote Scars at one point because the hard drive I'd saved it on failed and I lost it. And it probably did become a better book. If this process doesn't feel good/right, you can always put it in a drawer for now and work on something else.... So good for you!
Cherylhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15942773546991195462noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1431567185879051035.post-47737583938995779982014-01-12T14:21:09.094-08:002014-01-12T14:21:09.094-08:00I think this is a wonderful idea and I will be fol...I think this is a wonderful idea and I will be following and rooting for your ventures in writing. Over the past couple of years, I've struggled with the self-publishing route as well as trying to pursue traditional publishers. One thing is for sure; this is a long-term commitment and the most important thing to do (which most of us forget) is to be dedicated and know we will be rejected...over and over and over again. But with perseverance comes the rewards and yes; sometimes it takes a decade, if not longer.

I'm looking forward to your advice and wishing you the best of luck! It's worth it. Sometimes revising can cause more issues because what's really in order is a rewrite—a new, blank document that allows you to freely tell the story without just trying to fix things by changing words. It's so freeing to open that new document. And I love dual first person POV, so I'm so excited that you are going to use that.

Best of luck to you. I'm glad you're going to share your progress along the way. I just know that all your hard work will pay off and we'll all be celebrating you signing with and agent and getting that book deal. :) Kelly Hashwayhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13936313159809041986noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1431567185879051035.post-67692061416663377742014-01-11T19:47:19.012-08:002014-01-11T19:47:19.012-08:00Good advice for writers, and I like your quotes to...Good advice for writers, and I like your quotes too! :-)Lynn Lovegreenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18381497298898067525noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1431567185879051035.post-84252329942218795772014-01-11T19:01:39.046-08:002014-01-11T19:01:39.046-08:00I enjoyed your post.
